GWE Business West supports 'Have a Heart' Charity
The Have a Heart appeal is supporting Frenchay and
Great
Western Hospitals in Bristol and Swindon, through the
Starlight Children's
Foundation.
Starlight aims to improve the lives of Children in Hospitals and
Hospices.
The appeal runs between 15th - 19th March.
Backing for Bristol airport extension from GWE Business
West
Fresh backing for plans to extend Bristol International Airport
has come from the area’s leading business organisation.
GWE Business West, which represents more than 2,000 businesses
across the West of England, has consistently supported the scheme,
which could eventually see as many as 10 million passengers per
year using the airport in the next decade.

The former Swindon College site should be demolished by the end
of the year
Swindon Council officials said they were hopeful that work would
start this year along with the £250 million Union Square
development,
which should get planning permission in three months.
Leader of the council Rod Bluh and Gavin Jones, the chief
executive, were speakers at Destination Swindon, a public meeting
last night organised by the GWE Business West.

Superfast Broadband Speed - Have your say
The Government is planning to introduce a landline duty of 50p
per month on all fixed lines to help fund next generation access to
at least 90% of homes and businesses by 2017.

40 year vision Drivers of Change Workshop
As part of our Bristol 2050 project, we recently held a Drivers
of Change Workshop with over 40 of our senior business members. The
aim of the workshop was to identify the trends and issues shaping
the future of the Bristol city region to 2050. During the workshop,
led by Arup, delegates explored key social, technological,
economic, environmental and political drivers of change.
