The Business Show explores the impact of a new government and
what it means for business.

Local Enterprise Partnerships – will they work for
business?
A clear majority (64%) of businesses recently surveyed
[1] by GWE Business West [2] recognise that the
Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) are to be abolished. But 70%
are unsure about what will replace them. Most businesses do not
know what Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) are, what their
functions will be or what areas they will cover. The survey
responses also suggest that LEPs need not just be geographically
based but could focus on sectors or themes. Read more.
Saving Lyneham from being an economic wasteland
GWE Business West are supporting the campaign to prevent Lyneham
from becoming and economic wasteland. If the base is left vacant
the economic impact to the North Wiltshire businesses and community
at large will have a devasting effect. The aim is to encourage
the strategic defence review (which meets in October) to seriously
consider filling the economic void by relocating other smaller
military supply bases and a return base for troops returning from
Germany to Lyneham.
